    Neenah is actively searching for a ProtoLab Leader to support for our growing efforts in prototyping. Qualified candidates will have experience with coating formulations development (including color matching and pigment-based coatings), coating process development, understand the chemical and physical properties of coating fluids and the behaviors of raw materials used in the coatings industry. Additionally, individuals should have the education, technical skills, and knowledge to develop new visuals, addressing challenges that result in solutions for our customers while expanding Neenah’s product portfolio. Ideal candidates have the attitude, initiative and excellent interpersonal skills to support Neenah’s collaborative, high-achievement culture. This position will be based in Lowville, NY.

    Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility is the timely production and approval of customer designed samples which meet all parameters from a well-run ProtoLab facility and managing the Customer Experience for visitors.

     

    Lead ProtoLab Team:

    • Ensure that the ProtoLab process is followed consistently, documenting as needed and ensuring the same is true for other team members.
    • Manage activities of the ProtoLab team. Schedule daily workflow and distribute assignments among the team members.

    Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance:

    • Exercise personal leadership to provide an environment that puts a priority on providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees and conforms to applicable local, state, and federal codes and laws governing loss control.
    • Ensure products, raw materials and process conditions follow regulatory compliance through the product/process design cycle.
    • Develop products that allow consistency in manufacture and that will ensure conformance to all customer requirements.

    Grow the Top Line:

    • Develop prototype samples that match customer design, doing so in a timely fashion and with an eye toward manufacturability.
      • Communicate directly with Internal and External customers assessing product needs and specifications from start to finish throughout the request.
      • Formulate color and visual match samples to meet customer expectations for performance in the pertinent application.
      • Manage customer experience throughout ProtoLab visits.
      • Govern activities of the ProtoLab group.
    • Utilize lab equipment, instruments, systems and procedures to ensure performance

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in technical field preferred but not required.
    • Requires 5+years’ experience with coatings and color matching
    • Experience in the field of paints or coatings is ideal
    • Knowledge of color reproduction and color matching is a plus
    • Excellent communication (verbal, written), interpersonal, and computer skills. Experience working directly with customers is desired.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computer programs necessary for documentation, reporting and communication
    • Good problem solving and decision-making skills; Displays a sense of urgency and initiative with creativity and flexibility.
    • Candidate must be comfortable interacting with members of various internal Neenah departments, including R&D personnel, Operations; Marketing; Sales; etc. and must be comfortable and confident communicating and interacting with external Customer/Supplier;
    • In addition to being a key collaborator with the R&D team, candidate must be comfortable integrating with the Operations team to enable him/her to act as a key technical resource to both teams.
