    The Internal Audit Director is responsible for preparing and implementing a comprehensive risk-based audit plan that evaluates the effectiveness of controls to manage significant risk exposures of the global organization.  Key activities include oversight and execution of annual Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, understanding changes in SOX (and or related SEC pronouncements) regulatory requirements and assisting in implementing compliance throughout the organization, executing operational audits to identify risks and improve business processes, and report audit findings to the Audit Committee and senior management as needed.  This role also is responsible for team leadership and development for the internal audit team and coordinating with external co-sourced partner and independent auditors.  Core competencies for this role include strong analytical skills, communication, initiative, team leadership, project management, and financial acumen.  This role reports directly to the Audit Committee (functionally) and to the Vice President, Finance (administratively).   


    Develop and execute comprehensive audit plan that ensures effectiveness of controls for all major risk exposures and ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

    • Drive alignment on audit plan scope and identify key activities to provide to provide adequate coverage of risk and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance 
    • Lead annual audit planning efforts; effectively communicate to the Audit Committee and align with internal and external stakeholders for the successful execution of the plan. 
    • Execute the annual audit plan in a cost-effective and timely manner. 
    • Coordinate and allocate resource hours to ensure adherence to plan, including balancing internal and external resource needs
    • Work with external auditors to execute effective plan that minimizes impact on business operations
    • Oversee the global SOX program to assess the effectiveness of the design and execution of the program strategy in support of the annual control assessment.  Ensure all deliverables are timely and meet all compliance requirements  
    • Communicate SOX and operational audit issues to management, the Audit Committee, and external auditors

    Provide thought leadership and insights that help identify risks, execute operational audits, and develop mitigation activities

    • Maintain key relationships within the organization to understand current and emerging risks which will potentially impact the fulfillment of business objectives
    • Develop, oversee, and/or execute operational audits that align with business strategies and provide insight into key risk areas of the business
    • Assist in educating and raising organizational awareness around SOX and internal control issues.
    • Stay current with general business developments and new accounting or auditing pronouncements/standards to gain an understanding of their links and impact to the Company's business, and possible impacts to the overall internal control environment
    • Provide consulting services regarding business risk and control on a wide range of projects and corporate initiatives as requested

    Lead and develop the Internal Audit team; collaborate with third party contractors and external advisors

    • Lead managers, staff and/or independent contractors in the effective execution of the audit plan, effectively balancing internal and co-source resources to improve efficiency while adequately supporting the plan in a cost-efficient manner
    • Oversee all audit work; provide meaningful, technical, and hands-on guidance during assessments and ensure that all team deliverables are of high-quality.
    • Grow a high-performing audit team; develop the department’s capabilities and drive continuous improvement in the audit function.
    • Ensure audit practices are consistent with established professional standards, company policies and procedures, and department objectives
    • Work with the VP, Finance to develop a long-term strategy on internal vs co-source resources


    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required. Advanced degrees desired. 
    • CPA or CIA required; other certifications desired.
    • Minimum of ten years of audit experience, including significant experience with a public accounting firm, preferably one of the "Big 4"
    • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and PCAOB standards, SOX 404, and internal controls (COSO)
    • Must demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Experience in managing a Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program
    • Experience in developing and conducting operational audits
    • Ability to manage complex projects and programs
    • Experience interacting with business leadership and collaborating with business partners at similarly-sized, global organization
    • Willingness to travel
