Overview

This position is responsible for planning equipment repairs, part procurement, and documentation, answering calls, troubleshooting, and assisting with coordinating maintenance activities for the department equipment to minimize downtime and maximize production while meeting all safety, environmental, and quality limitations and specifications. This role is a non-exempt role within the Appleton Mill.

Responsibilities

Safety/Environmental

  • Create a culture that promotes injury reporting and behavior observation
  • Lead by example and participate in the development and implementation of safety processes, activities, and initiatives
  • Participate in equipment improvements
  • Utilize pre-job inspections
  • Assists with putting together quality SPA’s, SPL’S, RCA’s, SMP’S
  • Participates in planned inspections/audits (i.e. housekeeping, equipment condition, etc.)
  • Work with engineers as needed for contractor management safety,
  • Timely reporting of safety and environmental issue’s discovered and reasonable actions taken to help ensure issues are resolved.

Daily Maintenance Planning

 

  • Prioritize, plan and evaluate Maintenance work requests for routine PM’s, projects, corrective maintenance and emergencies by:
  • Determining what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, who needs to do it and coordinating resources needed including securing parts.
  • Organizing with asset leaders the optimal timing for machine availability.
  • Assisting in organizing trials when it involves altering a machine function.
  • Collect, document, and review daily planned work against completed work to identify and quantify variance between planned work, lost time and emergency work.
  • Plan, prepare and coordinate shutdown activities.
  • Prepare work order status reports utilizing EAM system
  • Assist engineering with the planning of new capital installs.
  • Perform other related duties as requested or assigned

Cost Management/Containment

 

  • Awareness of repair costs and communicates idea’s to supervisors to help reduce maintenance spending.
  • Awareness of department production goals and is part of the team that helps and supports those goals.
  • Proactive approach to reduce firefighting (CIL)

Equipment Reliability

  •  Awareness of equipment efficiencies and preventive/predictive maintenance procedures to help identify problems and set up corrective repairs.
  • Documentation of corrective repairs & maintains repair records in a manner to best identify future preventive maintenance utilizing EAM system.
  • Provide technical support to operators & supervisors
  • Strive for better understandings of the process and equipment
  • Share personal knowledge and results with co-workers for defects and solutions
  • Participate with teams in developing and implementing action plans to address lost time.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain records of Maintenance work Orders, Preventative maintenance, emergency work and repair histories by machine.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
  • Tissue or paper manufacturing with converting experience preferred.

  • Minimum 4 years of solid, direct industrial maintenance experience.
  • Journey person card or Industrial maintenance degree is preferred and will be taken into consideration first.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have good planning and organizational skills to coordinate activities between Maintenance and Operations.
  • Self-motivated and energetic.
  • Strong analytical / troubleshooting skills.  
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Oracle or a similar Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with client’s agencies and co-worker to promote a positive work environment.
