Overview

Neenah Paper, Quakertown Mill, Quakertown, PA, is currently accepting resumes for an Project Mechanical Engineer (Temporary 3 to 6 month assignment).  This position reports to the Mill Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all phases of project, from justification to start-up, including preliminary design studies, selection of equipment or vendors, and development and implementation of recommendations. 
  • Establishing project schedules by studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Maintaining project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, resolving problems.
  • Assist in the execution of annual shutdowns.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to crews during the course of the year.
  • Identify and implement best practices between sites.
  • Support Productivity, Yield and Uptime goals so that COM is reduced year over year.
  • Implement process initiatives to optimize paper machine and converting performance year over year.
  • Implement capital projects as assigned that meet or exceed objectives related to safety, quality, reliability and cost.

Support strategic cost control and energy reduction efforts

Qualifications

  • Successful candidates will have five (5) plus years of mechanical or electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.  Supervisory experience a plus. A proven track history of successful maintenance and engineering project management implementation are also desired. Paper Mill and manufacturing experience is desired.

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, though not required.
    • Applicable relevant maintenance and engineering experience will be considered as well.
    • Predictive/Preventive maintenance experience desired.
    • Leading metrics development and continuous improvement experience required.
    • Previous engineering experience in paper mill operations is preferred.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills; experience with customer/vendor interactions; ideally collaborating with others to help define needs, identify solutions and resolve problems.
    • Enjoys working with and collaborating with members of other business unit teams.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical proficiency, and troubleshooting skills.
    • Self-motivated individual with a take-charge attitude and an understanding of personnel management techniques.
    • Understanding of activities and procedures required for efficient and quality work completion.
    • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project. Experience with Oracle is very helpful.
    • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
