Overview

Neenah is growing and actively searching for three Process Engineer to provide process, quality, and continuous improvement support for our Filtration manufacturing activities at our Appleton Mill.  Ideal candidates have the attitude, initiative and excellent interpersonal skills to support Neenah’s collaborative, high-achievement culture. This position(s)  will support our Appleton Paper Machine 4 and/or our Saturator Complex.

Responsibilities

Drive toward achieving an injury-free workplace

  • Create a culture that promotes injury reporting and open dialog on safety behaviors.
  • Support key initiatives that focus on regulatory compliance and elimination of loss potential.
  • Lead by example and participate in the development and implementation of safety programs, activities, and initiatives.
  • Set high expectations for crew participation in safety initiatives.
  • Hold crew accountable for safety related behaviors and results.
  • Support facility safety management system.

Support mill and company environmental objectives and agenda

  •  Manage raw materials, processes and behaviors to ensure compliance with all company policies and regulations, including EMS and CEPS.

 

Meet internal and external customer expectations for product quality and service.

  • Develop and implement processes that will ensure consistent quality and delivery.
  • Support manufacturing personnel to fully understand product specifications and functionality.
  • Create a collaborative working relationship with Technical, Planning, Customer Service, Converting and other parts of th business as required to meet customer needs.
  • Communicate quality and service expectations and provide feedback on results.

Meet TPD, Yield, and Uptime expectations

  •  Develop and implement plans to meet and exceed targets.
  • Lead efforts to resolve operational issues impacting asset performance.
  • Lead asset improvement activities and capability development, including recommendations and sponsorship of capital projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with maintenance and engineering teams and help direct resources for asset maintenance and troubleshooting.

 Achieve short and long term manufacturing cost advantage.

  • Relentlessly pursue lowest total manufacturing cost solutions for the asset.
  • Implement comprehensive processes and initiatives aimed at reducing operating costs, increasing employee involvement/ownership, and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Create an environment where entire asset team continually drives out costs and identifies sources of waste to be eliminated.

Develop and enhance the hourly workforce in the manufacturing area.

  •  Communicate frequently and effectively with all employees.
  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment that encourages involvement, drives decision making to the lowest practical level, increases employee ownership and accountability, and promotes enthusiasm.
  • Understand and support daily, weekly and monthly results vs. targets and all other information impacting asset performance.
  • Support training of new employees and development of the training system and training documentation.

Support Filtration business development requirements.

  • Support efforts to develop, transform and utilize assets to meet filtration business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of industrial experience in one or several areas including Quality Assurance, Filtration Operations, Process Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or R&D
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methods (Six Sigma, Lean, Process Mapping, etc.) a distinct plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Aptitude to develop technical expertise and the ability to efficiently and accurately process a high volume of detailed workload
  • Excellent computer skills (including Excel and Word)
  • Prior experience in identifying, initiating and implementing cost savings projects a distinct plus
  • Willingness to embody the Neenah culture of collaboration, challenge and support
